Congratulations to Léonard Cadilhac (Sorbonne) who has won the Barbara and Jarosław Zemanek Award 2023. The prize is awarded by the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, to a person under the age of 35 for achievements in functional analysis, with special emphasis on operator theory. The jury highlighted the laureate's outstanding results on the noncommutative inequalities of Khintchin and maximal functions and the noncommutative Calderon-Zygmund theory.

The EMS Digest is currently being remodelled, following the retirement (with all of our thanks!) of the previous editor Mireille Chaleyat-Maurel. We had hoped it would be back by now, but the new editor and new format are still being put in place. On behalf of the European Mathematical Community, we congratulate Luis A. Caffarelli who has been awarded the 2023 Abel Prize “for his seminal contributions to regularity theory for nonlinear
