Offline /Beijing,China The International Congress of Basic Science 2024
Conference
The International Congress of Basic Science 2024 (ICBS 2024) is scheduled to be held in Beijing from July 14 to 26, 2024, with the theme of "Focusing on Basic Science, Leading the Future of Humanity." This is the top international academic conference on basic science hosted by China, focusing on three major basic science fields of mathematics, theoretical physics, and theoretical computer and information science. The conference will present the Lifetime Achievement Award in Basic Science and the Frontier Science Award. Among them, the International Lifetime Achievement Award in Basic Science is the first international award in the field of basic science presented by China. The International Congress of Basic Science was initiated by the renowned mathematician Shing-Tung Yau and chaired by him. It is co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, and the World Federation of Chinese Mathematicians. It is jointly hosted by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Zhongguancun Science Park Administration, the Beijing Science and Technology Association, the Beijing Huairou District Government, the Beijing Huairou Science City Management Committee, and the Beijing Yanqi Lake Applied Mathematics Research Institute.

Providence, RI, USA Solving the Boltzmann Equation for Neutrino Transport in Relativistic Astrophysics
ICERM Workshop
The spectacular observation of gravitational waves from a binary neutron star merger by the LIGO-Virgo Collaboration (GW170817), and a successful follow-up campaign by nearly every electromagnetic telescope ushered in this new era of multi-messenger astrophysics. Much of the understanding of such events arises from numerical modeling. An important part of this modeling is the inclusion in simulations of neutrino transport, as described by Boltzmann's equation. Because of inherent computational resource limits and given the high cost of the transport equations and the complexity of neutrino-matter interactions, there is a trade-off between computational cost and physical realism in all simulations. This workshop covers various approaches to solving the neutrino transport problem in compact object mergers and core-collapse supernovae, including Monte Carlo methods, moment truncation schemes, and other techniques.

Coalport, England, UK British Isles Graduate Workshop V: Mathematical General Relativity
Workshop
The fifth installment of the British Isles Graduate Workshop will focus on Mathematical General Relativity. It will be held in Coalport near Birmingham, from the 8th to the 12th of July 2024. It is targeted at PhD students and postdocs but open for application from all. The goal is for junior researchers to work together with three experienced mentors for a week. The format of the workshop is that three mentors propose three topics, split into six talks each, and participants sign up to give the talks.

Villa del Grumello, Como, Italy/Online Isogeometric Analysis: Theory, Applications, and New Trends
Summer School
The school will cover the mathematical foundations of Isogeometric analysis as well as its applications and future perspectives. The main features of splines basis will be analyzed, including recent results on their approximation properties. Another topic that will be discussed in the school is the design of locally refinable spaces. Structure-preserving isogeometric discretizations will be presented. Space-time isogeometric methods and low-rank isogeometric methods will also be introduced. Finally, applications will be presented, ranging from civil and mechanical to biomedical engineering, including, e.g., simulation of shells, laminates and fluid-structure interaction.
