The following is an English translation of an open letter to the President of the Russian Federation from Russian Mathematicians against the war in Ukraine. The Executive Board of the European Mathematical Society is deeply concerned about the Russian invasion in Ukraine and expresses its strong solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our fellow mathematicians in Ukraine. While International Mathematical Congresses (ICM) have been and always will be a way to unite the world community of mathematicians, under the current circumstances, we call on the International Mathematical Union not to proceed with the ICM in Russia in July 2022.
The Council is the EMS's governing body, comprising delegates of our corporate and individual members, and meets every two years. Its next meeting will be 25-26 June 2022 in Bled (Slovenia). For more information see this page (link).
Celebrating the 150 years of the Danish Mathematical Society, the 29th Nordic Congress of Mathematicians with the EMS will take place in Aalborg in the North of Jutland (Denmark) in the week 3-7 July 2023. We now invite proposals for sessions.
