Ryll-Nardzewski Centenary Awards: two prestigious mathematics prizes announced

The Ryll-Nardzewski Center at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland, is pleased to announce the establishment of two prestigious mathematics prizes to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Polish mathematician Czesław Ryll-Nardzewski in 2025.

The Awards

Two awards have been established to celebrate Ryll-Nardzewski's scientific legacy:

  • Main Award: 25,000 Euro, funded by the Mayor of Wrocław, for established mathematicians working in areas related to Ryll-Nardzewski's research interests
  • Early Career Award: 10,000 Euro, sponsored by AMOTHO, for young researchers at the beginning of their careers

Application Period

Applications will be accepted from August 1 to December 31, 2025. The awards are open to mathematicians worldwide working in fields connected to Ryll-Nardzewski's work, including ergodic theory, functional analysis, measure theory, and mathematical logic.

About Czesław Ryll-Nardzewski

Czesław Ryll-Nardzewski (1926-2015) was one of the most distinguished Polish mathematicians of the 20th century. His fundamental contributions spanned ergodic theory, functional analysis, game theory, and mathematical logic. His name is associated with numerous important theorems, including the Ryll-Nardzewski fixed-point theorem and the Ryll-Nardzewski theorem on the characterization of invariant measures.
