ERCOM Meeting 2025 Held at Institut Henri Poincaré, Paris
On 21–22 March 2025, the annual meeting of ERCOM — the EMS Committee for European Research Centres on Mathematics — was hosted by the Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP) in Paris. The event brought together directors and administrative representatives from leading research centres in mathematics across Europe.

The meeting offered a valuable forum to exchange views on the current landscape of mathematics in Europe, share best practices, and explore joint initiatives. EMS President Jan Philip Solovej took part in the meeting, underlining the Society’s support for ERCOM, a key platform within the EMS for fostering collaboration and excellence among mathematical institutes across Europe.
The programme included:
- a presentation of the Institut Henri Poincaré by Dominique Mouhanna (Director of IHP)
- a presentation of the Banach Center by Adam Skalski (Scientific Director of the Institute responsible for the Banach Center and EMS Executive Committee member)
- a working session on Outreach, led by Sylvie Benzoni (Professor at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and former Director of IHP) and Elise Raphaël (Science Officer of the SwissMAP Research Station and EMS Outreach Committee member), which took advantage of the beautiful and newly inaugurated Maison Poincaré museum of mathematics
- a scientific session on Publications, organized by Dominique Mouhanna and Christophe Ritzenthaler (Director of CIMPA and Chair of ERCOM), with contributions from Cécile Armana (Université Marie et Louis Pasteur and Laboratoire de mathématiques de Besançon) and Frédéric Hélein (Université Paris Diderot – Paris 7)
We warmly thank the Institut Henri Poincaré for its hospitality, including the cocktail-dinner and the guided visit to the mineralogy museum of Sorbonne Université.
