Postdoctoral Research Fellow

University of Sao Paulo | Sao Carlos, SP, Brazil

Classification: Partial Differential Equations

A Postdoctoral position is available for the Project “Geometric Theory of PDEs and Multidimensional Complex Analysis” – FAPESP Thematic Project, 2024/12753-8. Applications are open until November 20, 2026. The research will be conducted at the Department of Mathematics of the Instituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação (ICMC), University of Sao Paulo - Sao Carlos, Brazil. The project investigates global properties of systems of partial differential equations of geometric importance on product manifolds. The postdoctoral research will focus on the study of hypoellipticity and global solvability of operators given by sums of squares of real vector fields defined on product manifolds. Compact Lie groups will be given special attention. We plan to address the topic both in the context of smooth functions and in the context of ultradifferentiable functions (Gevrey classes, or even Denjoy-Carleman classes). Applications must be sent directly to the researcher Paulo Leandro Dattori da Silva (dattori@icmc.usp.br). The following documents are required for the application: updated curriculum vitae, letter of interest, research statement, and names and e-mail addresses of two references whom we may ask for a recommendation. The postdoctoral opportunity is open to Brazilians and foreigners. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship in the amount of R$12,570.00 per month and a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship to cover unforeseen expenses directly related to the research activity. If the postdoctoral (PD) fellow resides outside the city where the host institution of the research is located and needs to move, they may be entitled to a relocation allowance (auxílio-instalação).
