If you are eager to start an academic career in the exciting field of statistics and data analysis, we welcome you to apply for our new position as Associate Professor or Tenure Track Assistant Professor. Here at the Statistics and Data Analysis section at DTU Compute, we are looking for a new colleague to support and enhance our goal of bridging the gap between the classical and modern statistical methods. In this position, you are expected to contribute to this mission by engaging in both teaching and research activities. We are particularly interested in candidates with a very strong background in classical statistics for establishing the necessary foundation for venturing into and expanding the field with modern approaches for data science. We believe that such a foundation will be an utmost necessity for deeper understanding of more advanced approaches to data science problems and for their effective applications. In our section, we engage in application areas including but not limited to production analytics and health analytics as well as social sciences where we together hold a solid theoretical foundation for successful applications. The candidate is expected to demonstrate not only solid fundamental understanding and prior research in statistical methods but also to have the flair for successful implementation of these methods and actively take initiatives to engage in application projects. Our section is composed of a mixture of researchers working in statistics and machine learning. While the position is open to all candidates engaged in research and applications in various statistical methods, priority will be given to the candidates with solid background in classical statistics. Accordingly, we also expect the candidate to teach and supervise courses and projects in this field. Responsibilities and qualifications Your overall focus will be to strengthen the section’s mission in establishing a strong statistical foundation for modern applications of data analytics methods. You are also expected to teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects and be a co-supervisor for PhD projects. Your primary tasks will be to: • Conduct scientific research at the international level, your research will be aligned with DTU’s vision of being of the benefit for society. • Teach courses at various levels. • Take part in the development of our research-based teaching portfolio at the bachelor, master, and PhD levels. • Take part in supervision of student projects at the bachelor and master level. • Actively seek opportunities to lead and participate in collaborative, funded research projects with academia and/or industry. • Engage with industry and/or the public sector, and engineering departments at DTU We imagine that you have experience or knowledge in: • Mathematical statistics • Contemporary data science techniques • Project participation • Applied research You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both. As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. Starting date is 1 November 2026 or according to mutual agreement. The position is a full-time position.
