Assistant with a Doctorate

The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the area of probability and/or its applications. The position is open for a duration of 12-15 months, between October 2026 and December 2027, subject to agreement. The role will involve research work and dissemination of research results (via preprints/publications) on the programme Stochastic methods and their applications, on topics as determined by mutual agreement: • in areas of existing interest of the candidate that fall under probability and its applications; • and/or in areas of interest of other members of the programme (which include: processes with stationary independent increments; excursion theory of Markov processes; Tsirelson's theory of stochastic noises; deep/machine learning; Stein's method and the central limit theorem; copulas; actuarial mathematics). Applicants must have completed their doctoral studies by the start date of the appointment, should be fluent in English, and have demonstrated a capacity for excellence in scientific research.
