Pisa, Italy UltraMath 2022
Conference
ULTRAMATH 2022: Registration and Call for papers Ultrafilters and Ultraproducts Across Mathematics, and Related Topics June 6 - June 11, 2022, Pisa, Italy https://www.ultramath.it/ Dear all, We are happy to announce that the registration and the call for papers for the upcoming event "ULTRAMATH 2022 - Ultrafilters and Ultraproducts Across Mathematics, and Related Topics", that will be held in Pisa (Italy) from June 6th to June 11th, 2022, are now open. REGISTRATION: The deadline for registrations is ***MONDAY, MAY 9***. There is no registration fee, but completing the registration form is mandatory. Details for the registration and for grant applications can be found on the conference website. SUBMISSION OF AN ABSTRACT: The deadline for the submission of an abstract is ***MONDAY, MARCH 21***. Details on the procedure can be found on the conference website. The International Conference "ULTRAMATH 2022” aims to present recent results in the whole spectrum of mathematics which are grounded on the use of ultrafilters and ultraproducts. Its main goals: • Disseminate information about the various techniques related to the use of ultrafilters and ultraproducts, and their potential to attack open problems. • Bring together researchers with different backgrounds, and encourage their collaborations and interactions, especially on topics connecting different areas of mathematics. The covered topics of UltraMath 2022 include (but are not limited to): • Additive and Combinatorial Number Theory. • Combinatorics and Ramsey Theory. • Algebra and Geometry. • General Topology. • Measure Theory. • Ergodic Theory and Dynamics. • Functional Analysis and Metric Spaces. • Nonstandard Analysis and Model Theory. • Generalized Spaces and Differential Equations. • Set Theory. Greater prominence will be given to those results that satisfy (most of) the following conditions: • The results can be formulated and presented in non-specialist terms, and be in principle understandable by any practicing mathematician. • The usage of ultrafilters/ultraproducts is important (or even essential) in obtaining these results. • The results connect different areas of mathematics. • The results reveal new facets of known important topics. This is the second edition of “UltraMath”, after the one held in Pisa in 2008: http://people.dm.unipi.it/ultramath. After two years of postponement, we are strongly committed to holding this 2022 edition with the physical presence of lecturers and participants. We will make every effort to ensure that this is done safely; in the unfortunate case of a new emergency due to the pandemic, UltraMath 2022 will take place anyway as a hybrid or as an online event, depending on the situation. Birmingham/UK 12th IMA International Conference on Mathematics in Signal Processing
Conference
Signal processing and machine learning constitutes an important area for the application of mathematical concepts and techniques, in an era where learning algorithms must be transparent, robust, explainable and understandable, and ethical. It is a thriving area, as demonstrated by the success of the UK hosting the recent International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP) in Brighton in 2019. Signal and information processing is at the heart of our technological world, fuelled by developments in, for example, mobile communications, networks and graphs, multimedia systems, medical image analysis, genomics and bioengineering, neural signal processing, big data processing and internet of things. The aim of the conference is to bring together mathematicians, statisticians and engineers with a view to exploring recent developments in mathematics for signal processing and machine learning and identifying fruitful avenues for further research. It is hoped that the meeting will help to attract more mathematicians into this important and challenging field.

University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA, USA (in person and online) Topological Data Visualization Workshop
Conference
Some datasets are too small for standard statistical/data analysis to accurately characterize the data. Others are extremely large and data size reduction methods may be needed. One solution is to use topological data analysis to simplify and/or visualize data. This workshop will include both tutorials and research talks on topological techniques for visualizing data. In person workshop with hybrid component for those who wish to join virtually.
