University of Oxford - Hybrid 4th IMA Conference on the Mathematical Challenges of Big Data
Conference
Mathematical foundations of data science and its ongoing challenges are rapidly growing fields, encompassing areas such as: network science, machine learning, modelling, information theory, deep and reinforcement learning, applied probability and random matrix theory. Applying deeper mathematics to data is changing the way we understand the environment, health, technology, quantitative humanities, the natural sciences, and beyond ‐ with increasing roles in society and industry. This conference brings together researchers and practitioners to highlight key developments in the state‐of‐the art and find common ground where theory and practice meet, to shape future directions and maximize impact. We particularly welcome talks aimed to inform on recent developments in theory or methodology that may have applied consequences, as well as reports of diverse applications that have led to interesting successes or uncovered new challenges.

Göttingen, Germany Singular Integrals on Nilpotent Lie Groups and Related Topics
Summer School
This summer school is the first of two which are planned for 2022/23 seeking to bring together doctoral students and postdocs (and also welcomes more experienced researchers) with experts of the analysis on nilpotent Lie groups. The school will take place 19.-23. September 2022 in the picturesque town of Göttingen at the Mathematical Institute. The topic of the school is Singular Integral Operators on Nilpotent Lie Groups and Related Topics, in particular: Harmonic Analysis on the Heisenberg Group, PDE on Nilpotent Lie Groups, Sub-Riemanian Geometry and Nilpotent Lie Groups, and Singular Integral Operators with Flag Kernels.

Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge Induction Course for New Lecturers in the Mathematical Sciences 2022
Induction Course
The Induction Course for New Lecturers in the Mathematical Sciences has been designed by the mathematics community so that it is ideally suited for anyone who is new to or has limited experience teaching mathematics or statistics within UK higher education. It will be delivered by individuals with significant experience of teaching in the mathematical sciences and will focus upon the specific details and issues that arise in mathematics and statistics teaching and learning within higher education including topics such as: • Lecturing. • Supporting student learning. • Making teaching interactive. • Assessment, examinations and feedback. • Linking teaching & research. • Using technology to enhance teaching and learning. • Using examples and mathematical problem solving. • Teaching statistics and its applications. Additionally, there will be significant opportunities for delegates to discuss their own ideas, challenges and experiences with the session facilitators so that individual queries can be answered.
