Announcement of Recruitment of Assistant Professors, Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) The Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS), Kyoto University announces the recruitment of Assistant Professors as per below. Selection will be done through screening of documents and possibly through interviews (applicants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses in attending face-to-face interviews). Promising researchers regardless of any nationality or gender are encouraged to apply for the position. Positions: a few vacancies of assistant professors Expected starting date of appointment: April 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. Eligibility: Each applicant must have earned a Ph.D. degree by the starting date of the appointment, or must demonstrate equivalent ability as a researcher. It is expected that successful applicants should be actively engaged in teaching during the three-year term of reappointment. Therefore, they must be able to deliver lectures in Japanese during the term of reappointment. Area of specialization: Mathematics and mathematical sciences. Salary and fringe benefits: Determined on the basis of Kyoto University Regulations Regarding Salaries of Faculty and Staff. Term of employment: Seven years. Reappointment may be granted only once. Term of employment under the reappointment is three years. However, during the term of office, if they take childcare leave, family care leave or leave to accompany their spouses, the period of absence shall be discounted towards the term of service. Working hours: 08:30-17:15 Break time: 12:00-13:00 Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, Year-end and New Year holidays, and Foundation Day (June 18). Overtime and other explanations: Seven hours and 45 minutes per day, 38 hours 45 minutes per week under a discretionary work system. If the discretionary work system for specialized work is not applied, work 5 days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. (break 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) Overtime may be required.
