SUMMARY:The Ceresa Cycle in Arithmetic and Geometry
DTSTAMP:20260330T195000Z
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20240513
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20240517
DESCRIPTION:In the 1980s\, Ceresa exhibited one of the first naturally occu
rring examples of an algebraic cycle\, the Ceresa cycle\, which is in gene
ral homologically trivial but algebraically nontrivial. In the last few ye
ars\, there has been a renewed interest in the Ceresa cycle\, and other cy
cle classes associated to curves over arithmetically interesting fields\,
and their interactions with analytic\, combinatorial\, and arithmetic prop
erties of those curves. We hope to capitalize on this momentum to bring to
gether different communities of arithmetic geometers to fully explore expl
icit computations around the arithmetic and geometry of cycles when these
	various approaches are systematically combined.
